![]() ![]() Antz was largely brown, but this movie uses a paintbox of color to produce stunning images with luminous tones. Lending their voices are Seinfeld's Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Phyllis Diller, Kevin Spacey, Spin City's Richard Kind, Frasier's David Hyde Pierce, and John Ratzenberger of Cheers. Helped by outstanding voice talent, the rest of the movie's characters are quirky and endearing enough to make you forget they are computer-animated. A Bug's Life has NewsRadio's Dave Foley providing his voice as Flik, an All-American ant-next-door type who is inventive, brave, and loyal. Antz has Z, voiced by Woody Allen as - well - Woody Allen, angst-ridden, in analysis, searching for individual identity in a world of conformity. Oddly enough, this wasn't the only computer-animated movie about bugs to come out in the fall of 1998 Antz was released just a month before, and the difference between the two animated bug movies is exemplified by their lead characters. You'll need to see this delightful movie twice to appreciate the scope of its visual wit and technological mastery. This movie is great, but don’t show it to kids under 7. Centipedes do not eat vegetation as caterpillars do. Centipedes typically have about 15 pairs of legs. Many varieties of the caterpillar share these physical properties. He graphically beats up Flik, and almost kills him, but at the time of that scene, Hopper gets eaten by a bird. Centipedes are insects that have long, slender, segmented bodies they are usually brown in color. He also killed three ants by crushing them with grain. Luckily, before she got hurt Flik stops him. He borderline TORTURED a young ant by holding her up to a savage grasshopper against her will in front of the entire colony. The antagonist, Hopper, is almost sadistic. The characters go to a bar, when a mosquito says ‘Hey, give me a bloody mary, type O’ and the server gives him a drop of blood. Only romance which isn’t even stated as romance. Hopper says to his brother that he ‘wishes that he could kill him if he didn’t swear not to on his mother’s death bed.’ Also, some mild insults, like ‘stupid’, and ‘shut up’. There is one scene where the queen says the word ‘suicide,’ but she said ‘Oh, because it’s suicide’ instead of ‘You want to commit suicide.’ She was referring to Flik’s idea of going to find help, but most ants are too paranoid to go. There is a lot that’s not good for children under 7.
